About González

González Byass is the largest and most editorially significant sherry house in Jerez — a vertically integrated producer covering everything from the everyday Tio Pepe Fino (one of the most globally distributed sherries) to the deeply aged VORS (Very Old Rare Sherry, 30+ years) and rare vintage Sherries from individual decades dating back to the 19th century. The house’s solera system, the underlying technical infrastructure of sherry production, includes barrels and casks operating in continuous use for 100+ years. Beyond Tio Pepe, the house produces Viña AB (Amontillado), Alfonso Oloroso, Apostoles Palo Cortado VORS, Matusalem Oloroso Dulce VORS, and Noe Pedro Ximénez VORS — the latter four representing the canonical references for premium sherry types. The Bodega de las Copas tasting cellar in Jerez is one of the world’s most important wine destinations.

Editorial notes

Practical guidance

Tio Pepe is one of the most consistently produced fine wines in the world — the brand has remained at premium quality for 180+ years despite mass distribution. Fino and Manzanilla sherries should be drunk young; VORS and PX styles benefit from open-bottle aging.
